Penitentiary Online Shop Policy Page

SHOP WITH CONFIDENCE:

The Penitentiary's Online Shop allows you to place orders using our secure server. Our shopping-cart software runs in Secure Mode on the Online Shopper's browser, using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to encrypt sensitive data such as credit card numbers. While selecting products and adding them to the Shopping Cart, the Online Shopper is in Non-Secure Mode. After he/she presses the Checkout button, we switch to Secure Mode in order to collect the billing and shipping information. All modern Web browsers support the SSL standard, but the Online Shopper can choose to checkout using Non-Secure Mode if necessary. The Penitentiary does not make customer e-mail addresses available to other companies.

How to Place an Order: There are 3 ways to order products from the Penitentiary Shop.

  1. Online: The easiest way to order is to shop online. Online ordering is fast easy and safe. Your personal information is protected by our secure server software. It encrypts all of the information that we receive including your credit card number, name and address, so you never have to worry about issues of privacy or credit card safety. Simply find the item you wish to purchase, then click on the "Add to Cart" button, make sure your have the quantity you wish, then click on the "Check Out" button. Please note that if you do not have you cookies enabled, you will not be allowed to make online purchases.
  2. Print Form: This option is currently only available for membership purchases. For credit card orders, use our print form and fax to (215) 236-5289. For money order or check orders, use our print form and mail to:

  3. By Phone: Call the Penitentiary shop at (215) 236-5111 x12 between 10 am and 5 pm E.S.T. A friendly shop employee will be happy to take your order over the phone.

ACCEPTED FORMS OF PAYMENT:

Online Shop: The Eastern State Penitentiary Online Shop accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover/Novus cards. This includes all card types which are derivatives of those brands. Some examples are: Visa check cards and debit cards, MasterCard "MasterMoney", EuroCard, etc.

On-Site Store: Most of the items in the online store are also available for purchase at the Eastern State Penitentiary Gift Shop, located directly inside the Penitentiary's main entrance. The Penitentiary Shop is open every day from 10 am – 5 pm. Admission is NOT required to shop at the Penitentiary Store. The on-site shop at Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site accepts, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, checks, and cash.

SHIPPING/HANDLING CHARGES: All orders are shipped via U.S. Mail first class. A shipping and handling charge is included in the price of each product. An additional $30 charge is applied to international orders.
